Class 1 – Sketch

Filed under: Art Class — HART @ 3:30 am

Today was our first class … We signed up initially for 5 week course – every Friday between 1pm and 3:30pm

We purchased art supplies from two places … Artists Emporium and University of Manitoba Bookstore. Artist Emporium has everything … and offers some discount for students taking art classes. Yvonne works at the UofM and with an employee discount some products can be reasonably priced there. Guy provided each of us with a ‘class’ card to obtain discounts at another local art supplies store in Winnipeg, as students.

I thought “Sketch” was a good description of the first class. We basically focused on sketching objects, lighted, with our various types of pencils trying to capture depth and shadows, if possible 🙂

Guy gave us some great hands on tips regarding lines, angles and stuff … and YES! it’s okay to use a ruler 😀

I plan to either SCAN or take pictures of our progress in this photo blog … and have a gallery for each of our work.

  1. […] Because it is really class 1 once again .. we are back to the basics – sketching real objects sitting in front of us, from different points of view (see Class 1 – Sketch) […]
